Organised as part of the Realising the European Open Science Cloud joint event by the EOSC-hub, FREYA and SSHOC projects, the EOSC Projects EXPO is the first virtual exhibition showcasing initiatives and projects of the European Open Science Cloud.
The EOSC Projects EXPO showcases some of the latest developments towards “realising a European Open Science Cloud” from the many initiatives and projects that are working together towards the same goal.
The exhibition, as a complement to the Realising the EOSC conference programme, is expected to be a platform that gathers all the EOSC players together for four days of knowledge exchange, the creation of potential synergies, and networking.
Attendance is free of charge and ther are no fees charged to exhibitors.
Who should attend
All of the following that are interested in the EOSC developments should register and visit our virtual exhibition:
- Research & Academic institution representatives
- Libraries and other research support staff
- Researchers and research associations
- Industry & private sector
- EOSC-related projects
- Research and eInfrastructures
- Policy makers
- Funding agencies
- High performance computing centres

- Civil society and citizen scientists

NOTE that only registered attendees will be given access to the virtual exhibition platform.
Call for Exhibitors
If you are contributing to the development of the EOSC and would like to share some of your results, then you’re encouraged to submit an application. There are NO FEES required to apply. Selected applicants will be informed on the status of their application within 5 working days. DEADLINE FOR EXHIBITORS: 6 November 2020, 12:00 CET. Any applications received after the deadline will be put on waitlist. Here are some of the criteria for selection:
- Booth should exhibit project results or initiatives and how they contribute to the EOSC
- Potential exhibitor should be an existing contributor to the EOSC initiative
- Relevance to the target audience of the expo
- Richness of the media to be exhibited

Virtual Exhibition Features
Breakaway from Zoom fatigue and experience a new way to interact virtually. Connect with old acquaintances and meet new ones!
An Exhibition Hall accessible via browsers will showcase all the booths in an animated virtual environment. Each booth can host videos, posters, flyers, brochures and can host multiple representative exhibitors from your organisation who can answer questions from visitors through chat.
Visitors will be given an e-briefcase to store all the material from the exhibitors and sent to the visitors via email.
A virtual lounge will be set up for people to network and meet each other.
Scavenger Hunt and Leaderboards
Visitors can hunt for hidden clues and rise up the leaderboards to win prizes!
Best Booth Contest
A contest will be run for the best exhibition booth. As a prize, all the material showcased at the winning booth will be sent to all the attendees of the Realising the EOSC conference and winning booth representatives will receive an Amazon Echo Dot (a maximum of 3 can be awarded for booths with more than one representative). The following is the criteria for judging:
- 30% - Public voting (number of votes collected via the voting system)
- 30% - Soundness of content
- 25% - Relevance and clarity of message
- 15% - Design, visuals and attractiveness
The jury comprises of Matti Heikkurinen, EOSC-hub Innovation Management, Veronika Heider, SSHOC Communications, and René van Horik, FREYA Training and Sustainability. They will score booths on the soundness of content, relevance and clarity of message, and design, visuals and attractiveness.
