EOSC Hub Competence Centres and Thematic services: Experience from various disciplines

Time 18 November 2020, 14:00 - 15:30 CET
Chair Gergely Sipos (EGI), Debora Testi (CINECA)
Description

This session will showcase some of the 'Thematic Services' and 'Competence Centres' that work in the EOSC-hub project to bring new services into EOSC from various research disciplines. The session is relevant for scientific communities and projects that want to bring their services into EOSC and want to see examples from other communities on such experiences. - EOSC-hub includes 9 Thematic Services. Thematic Services are scientific services (incl. data) that provide discipline-specific capabilities for researchers (e.g. browsing and download data and apps, workflow development, execution, online analytics, result visualisation, sharing of result data, publications, applications). EOSC-hub supported the integration of these services with generic e-infrastructures, and with EOSC.

EOSC-hub includes 8 Competence Centres. Each CC is a small consortium composed of representative institutes from the Research Infrastructures, experts of relevant e-infrastructure services, and software/technology developers. CCs The CCs co-design and co-develop services for the the scientific communities by mobilising generic services from the so called ‘EOSC-hub common services’ portfolio and domain specific services from the research infrastructures.
